This game is a first-round knock-out. The box art has an impact and grabs your attention - very dynamic. The top and bottom of the box have octagon chain-link art allowing you to use the bottom box as an Octagon-themed dice tray. The components are all tough and sturdy enough to take into a cage-match. The player screen has useful “player aide“ information on the inside.Cage Match: the MMA Fight Game can be light and fast or it can be heavy and challenging. Cage Match is scaleable - you adjust the weight-class (damage) depending on how long you want to play. Heck, you don’t even have to be a fan of MMA to enjoy this game - I am not, and this game has had me in a choke-hold since it arrived. There are 12 well-balanced fighters in the game. Each fighter feels unique and has their own style. The publisher’s website even has a section discussing how to win with and against each fighter. You have to understand your fighters style to see wins. These fighters are not just different colored versions of the same three fighters. It's a fun little game. Once you learn the rock paper scissors element of the game, it becomes much more strategic. There's a couple odd interractions, like a jab being the best way to stuff a takedown, but for balance it makes the most sense within the game and doesn't hurt gameplay. The character names are amazing. Greg O'Conor the irish striker, for example. Lisa Lloyd ("Loud Lisa Lloyd" in my headcanon) the blonde judoka.Fun, easy and quick game that I would strongly recommend to fans of the sport or a board gamer looking to pick up a 2 player fighting game. This game is really fun! It's fast, fun, has easy to learn and teach rules, incredible components (you're getting a lot of bang for you're buck!), great art, epic moments, and is all-in-all a really well-done MMA light strategy game. Using a system of secret action selection and simultaneous action resolution, it involves some interesting mind games of trying to guess your opponent's moves and outsmart them and can lead to some epic games! Plus, the "go to ground" mechanic adds another layer of strategy.I would recommend this game to fans of MMA and lovers of light strategy games (and especially both). It should appeal to both casual gamers and hardcore gamers looking for either a filler game or something to play all night in match after match.I love MMA. This game has a simple design but manages to include the many styles of MMA. Standing fighters, ground fighters, defensive etc. Jabs and low kicks get you focus tokens that you can use for special attacks and combos or add to your delivered damage. Each fighter gets bonuses to their unique strengths and have their own special attacks and combos. All of this creates tense decisions as you try and bring your opponents head and body counts to zero while trying to protect yourself.MMA fans will love it but I think there is something here for everyone.Hope there are expansions and more fighters.Nice to finally get a MMA game. It's fast, fun, simple, and engaging system. There are plenty of male and female characters that do play different. It stuffs a good amount of theme into a quick game. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the dice chucking, but there are already card variants on bgg to take care of that. I don't keep a lot of games in my collection, keeping this one.Hell yeah!Cage Match! Is such a great game! It’s pretty easy to learn and the box is small, so you can take it anywhere! Sometimes, the game can be quick, but other times, it can take a while to play. It’s great for passing the time! I highly recommend it!I used it and liked it
